11years ago, N’Dia and Daniel Ahouassa, childhood friends came to the US and began running Abidjan.net. They gave up engineering jobs to found a web company and focus on the website which “which grew out of a mailing list for alumni of a leading secondary school in Abidjan.” It now offers among many things: on-line editions of the country’s main newspapers, as well as message boards, yellow pages, social events, recipes,
The creators see Abidjan.net as “only the beginning: [wanting] to create the premier information technology company in French-speaking West Africa” They set up their company Webology for this purpose and have gone on to create and host over 46 other sites for African companies, governments and services.
