Oh Yeon Ho graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in Korean literature in 1988. He went on to work as a staff reporter and foreign correspondent (Washington, DC) for the liberal Korean monthly magazine Mahl, eventually becoming chief of staff in 1999. After publishing a number of independent books on South Korean journalism, Oh launched his long-dreamed media experiment in February 2000 with the citizen journalist venture OhmyNews. OhmyNews now boasts over 60,000 citizen reporters and 65 full-time staff, ranking among the top most influential media in South Korea. Oh lives in Seoul with his wife and two children.
